Report Excerpt

The Search & Information Access Report looks at... Your Amigo's Distributed Architecture

"YourAmigo is a distributed search solution, but with a particular twist. The product places agent software on servers containing content to be indexed. This code watches for new or modified documents. When such a document is identified, the agent processes the file, encrypts it, and copies the file to the main server where the YourAmigo query processing subsystem and master "SiteIndex" reside. This approach reduces some of the bandwidth and processing demand associated with brute-force spiders; however, it requires that licensees install agent software on multiple servers."
