Report Excerpt

The Web CMS Report looks at... Open Text: RedDot Content Management Server

"With the Version 7 release in 2006, about 25 percent of th back end was migrated from older COM technology to .NET. Some RedDot partners have been disappointed by the paucity of .NET support, as it makes it harder to insert or reuse other .NET components, and in general, working within older Microsoft technologies is not exactly a career ehhancer. "

Our customers say

"I’ve been using the The Web CMS European Report and I have to say that the quality of the analysis is faultless. How your team not only get beneath the surface of CMS products but also highlight the good, bad and ugly in a very readable report is nothing short of miraculous.

Rethinking RedDot's usability

28-Mar-2007   --

On its website, CMS vendor RedDot (now an Open Text subsidiary) points out that 3 years ago we lauded their CMS product for its localization and authoring capabilities. Well, we learn over time as we talk to more customers. And products change over time -- or rather don't always change with the times. So it is with RedDot CMS, whose European customers tell us that its localization capabilities are aging, and its globalization facilities surprisingly underdeveloped. It will be interesting to see whether RedDot can make needed usability improvements over the next year while it tries to reconcile codebases with Open Text's other WCM and ECM tools, and still upgrade its back-end to .NET. You can find more details in The CMS Report.
