Reducing legal fees....through records management

A lawyer named Craig Ball counsels how to "reduce electronic data discovery" costs, but along the way, really lays out a nice, 10-point information and records management manifesto (Thanks to Jesse Wilkins' Informata). I happen to believe that #1 ("If you don't need it, get rid of it") may be the most important. Archiving is not records management, folks, and you don't want to archive everything automatically. Ball also makes the case for enterprise taxonomies and enterprise search -- two terms that roll off the tongue much more easily than they roll onto your servers -- but both are important efforts to at least get started...
