Our customers say

"I've seen a lot of basic vendor comparison guides, but none of them come close to the technical depth, real-life experience, and hard-hitting critiques that I found in the Search & Information Access Report. When I need the real scoop about vendors, I always turn to CMS Watch.

IBM's new, new search offering

07-Jul-2006   --

IBM has announced "entry-level" search software under the snappy name of "IBM WebSphere Information Integrator OmniFind Starter Edition." Of course, IBM also resells the Google Appliance. And IBM resells the "free" X1 Desktop Search system. IBM bakes search into DB2. Plus IBM includes basic search in WebSphere and Lotus Notes. Some customers have told me that IBM offers OmniFind as part of a bundle for big hardware and service commitments. A buyer of WebFountain gets basic search tossed in free. IBM has also talked about including the iPhrase search system with certain data warehouse deals. All I can say is, IBM is not making it easy for me to figure out what these new products do. And If I don't know, how will an IBM customer know?
