Alfresco vs. Plone

When Alfresco made a noisy launch earlier this year, the new project put some noses out of joint elsewhere in the open-source CM community by claiming the mantle of "first open-source ECM platform." In particular, some in the Plone community pointed out that Plone was frequently used in the wild for managing documents, not just HTML text. Well, along comes Seth Gottlieb with a typically detailed comparison of the 2 platforms. It turns out they each have some strengths (and weaknesses), and appear to be targeted at different use-cases.
