Mambo Creates a Foundation

Taking a page from Zope and other major open-source CMS projects, some Mambo project leaders have created a foundation (pdf) to support and generally husband the initiative. Participants in this discussion thread raise some important issues, e.g, who decided who would lead the foundation? In general, though, the development of an independent organizational body represents an important milestone in the maturation of a open-source project -- and specifically, some developers felt Mambo was too closely tied to its original founders.
