Report Excerpt

The Web CMS Report 2009 looks at... SharePoint Licensing Costs

"Based on freely available retail pricing on Microsoft's website, we assembled three scenarios that outline pricing for a typical end-to-end, small, mid-sized and large SharePoint implementation. we assumed that the customer had to buy both server and client licenses as a part of the package; in reality, many customers will likely have server licenses. In the small enterprise scenario, we used a benchmark of 100 employees; for the mid-sized enterprise, we used 500; and for the large enterprise, we used 5,000. "

Still fragmented, after all these years

09-Jun-2005   --

As I've said repeatedly, the number of viable Web content management vendors continues to expand. It turns out, for example, that the 72 systems seeing use in Denmark (population: 5.4m) has now jumped to 121. Reports list manager Janus Boye, "I'm sure if you scratch the surface you will similar patterns around the world..." Indeed, a small survey of CMS adoption at 14 UK higher ed institutions found...14 different products in active use (via Martin White). The CMS market has witnessed a decade-long dogfight; many strong contenders have emerged, but no one is winning outright. (For more analysis, consult The CMS Report.) Do you know any other software marketplace this fragmented? Let me know.
