Serena Releases Collage "Single Site"
10-May-2005
For a while there, it seemed like CMS license pricing had stabilized. Now the cost-per-feature ratio in the Web content management space appears to be dropping. After developing one of the first credible Java-based offerings for the mid-market several years ago, Serena now offers an entry-level license (for one website only) to its Collage CMS product for a scant $15k USD. This is a good time to reiterate that most costs in any CMS project stem from customization, migration, and related services. Serena is a more complicated -- albeit potentially more powerful -- tool than most competitors at this price point, so it may not be ideal for the small-business website. But for departmental or mid-sized corporate buyers (the slice Microsoft can't figure out how to dominate), the cost of entry may start falling again...
