Interwoven checks the box for only $2M
18-Aug-2004
If you want to be an "enterprise content management" vendor in the eyes of major analysts, you need to "check the box" on all the different flavors of information management, from WCM to DM to DAM (witness OpenText's acquisition of asset management vendor Artesia) to Records Management (RM). No matter whether the solution makes sense for a vendor's existing code or customer base. Thus did Interwoven complete a very clever little acquisition of RM vendor Software Intelligence, Incorporated. The paltry $2M price tag should signal that Software Intelligence brings only a very niche offering, mostly for law firms. To be fair, the legal market is a strength for Interwoven's iManage base. And now Interwoven can check the RM box on enterprise RFPs and analyst interviews. But as a buyer, don't assume that the rebranded "Interwoven Records Manager" is a general-purpose RM solution...
