"The unusual element of Xythos architecture comes in its use of document stores. These are database structures used to store file metadata (and the file itself, if required). Though there is nothing new or innovative in managing metadata in a database and the content itself in a separate environment, the focus on partitioning content into many small document stores and then managing these via load balancers and webservers is somewhat different as it provides a web version of the more tradition client-server structure of original document/file management systems ..."

OpenDeploy Casts Off

Interwoven is quietly spinning longtime deployment product OpenDeploy off as a separate product line, decoupled from its TeamSite CMS offering. Why? To tap an increasingly active market for "application change management" (think configuration management for distributed web apps), even touting the tool for customers who use competing CMS products. For TeamSite customers, this represents good news and bad. The good news is that OpenDeploy -- a sometimes finicky module, yet essential to almost every Interwoven installation -- will get battle-tested in broader environments and take on more capabilities, especially for super-distributed deployments. The bad news is that different product lines could mean looser integration points and potential for releases to get out of sync. There are already grumblings within Interwoven's customer base about mis-matched operating system-support in the latest versions of the two products...
