Report Excerpt

The Enterprise Search Report 2008 looks at... How Speed of Mind Works

"In lieu of the native search functionality included with the database, the Speed of Mind plug in takes over responsibility for converting the user's query into a SQL statement, processing the "hits" and ranking them for relevance, and providing additional search functionality not included in the database's native search modules. Specifically, Speed of Mind takes control in execution of the SQL that relates to relevance ranking with respect to text and numbers, while the database itself handles joins and other relational database operations as usual."

More about The Enterprise Search Report 2008

Our customers say

"There are two main features of The Enterprise Search Report that keep me coming back to it as a reference. There are, of course, the reviews of the different tools which are very helpful when I need to quickly learn about a new search engine. But of even more value is its treatment of the requirements and pitfalls of search implementations in general. Highly recommended for those considering a search implementation.

Remembering Google

02-Oct-2008

Remember Google the way it was in 2001? Slightly funky logo, exclamation point on the end. Lots of white space. Proud declaration above the query-box: "Search 1,326,920,000 web pages."

Now you can go back and relive those glory days by visiting http://www.google.com/search2001.html, where Google (on the occasion of its tenth anniversary) has put up its old site, linked to the oldest index it could find (which dates to 2001).

You can get a sense of how old the index is by running a few quick searches. A search on RedDot brings back hits on InfoOffice (with nary a mention of Open Text). A search on Alfresco brings back a lot of links to Italian food sites.

Those were the days...
