Report Excerpt

The Web CMS Report 2009 looks at... TYPO3

"While its LAMP architecture makes it possible to run on inexpensive hardware, the application is relatively resource-intensive due to the layers of abstraction and complexity built into the architecture. Whereas simpler PHP-based WCM systems are customized by modifying or writing PHP code, TYPO3 has implemented a whole new configuration language that needs to be parsed and interpreted by PHP which is, itself, an interpreted language."

"The Web CMS Report is excellent! Very well written, and you've done a masterful job explaining the business case for WCM.

Hope to see you at the Enterprise 2.0 Conference...

05-Jun-2008

...which comes to Boston next week, 9-12 June. It's a "big tent" conference that seems to accommodate many different notions of things-2.0, which is good, because as you know many people are quite sick of the term. Buzzword exhaustion or not, there are a lot of substantive issues to discuss here, and the organizers tell us they still have some attendance slots open (CMS Watch readers can get a $100 registration discount using this coupon code: CMBVEB41).

I'll be talking specifically about evaluating Social Software technology first thing Wednesday morning. And we'll be releasing our newest report at the event, The Enterprise Social Software Report: Networking & Collaboration Technology Within and Beyond the Enterprise. Well, that's a mouthful for sure, but it will evaluate a wide range of social computing platforms, from the likes of IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, and Google, through Jive, Drupal, and Traction, to Facebook and LinkedIn, and several others in-between. If you're considering investing in Social Software, watch this space next week for details on report availability.

And if you're interested to chat more about all this stuff, come to the conference and say "hello" after my presentation.
