The Web CMS Report 2008 looks at... Management Reporting

"Many CMS vendors will tell you that since they provide all the audit data, all you have to do is turn a report writer (like Crystal Reports) against it. That's a cop-out. You'll want reports right within the system itself, so that you can click on content items and tasks to act upon the data you find. You might also want..."

Dropping coverage of Synkron Via

14-Mar-2008

Marketplaces change, and therefore, we change our product coverage with them. The Web CMS marketplace is particularly dynamic; some products seem to plateau, while others advance quickly.

So, with our recent update to the Web CMS Report, we decided to drop regular coverage of Synkron Via, a Danish Web CMS. Our research indicates that product sales have stagnated, especially outside Denmark, since Dynamicweb acquired Synkron in March 2007 and with the management shake-up that followed in June 2007.

To be sure, the product does remain on our radar. We continue to track its development and regularly talk to customers and implementation partners about their experiences.

We have covered Synkron since 2005 and it has been an interesting ride, highlighted by a new CEO in August 2005, the migration from ASP to .NET with the release of Via 1.0 in May 2006, and finally Synkron was among the first to share problems with Vista-IE7 support.

At some point in the future we might decide to cover the product again, but in the latest edition of the report we added several new packages, so that the report now evaluates 40 vendors across 2 editions (Global and European). Rather than keep adding new vendors in a very crowded European Web CMS marketplace we're trying to save you time by just evaluating the most significant ones.
