Report Excerpt

The Web Analytics Report 2008 looks at... Mapping human-readable values in Auriq reports

"A helpful “Mapping Function” enables administrators to change default field values -- such as extracting a user ID from a cookie, extracting query string data, eliminating unwanted pages, changing URLs to plain language titles, and splitting attributes in queries (e.g., product and model). This work will surely enhance report usability, but you need to perform it upfront before implementation. Unfortunately, AuriQ provides no error checking utility that could check the accuracy of the data entered, leaving you to conduct potentially time-sapping QA on all the values. For example, if you want to extract user IDs from cookies, you'll have to perform a visual sanity check or run a script to ensure that all of the IDs have been extracted."

More about The Web Analytics Report 2008

Our customers say

"In my years of experiences I have seen several cases where a company invests in a tool without understanding fully what they are getting into in terms of functionality, support, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), licensing agreements etc, this report will provide you the required information so that you can avoid those pitfalls and make a sound investment decision. The report will pay for itself on the very first day.

Don't Miss these Web Analytics Conferences

04-Oct-2007

Web analytics remains a nascent industry, so you don't have a huge choice of conferences that focus solely on the practice. However, here are the events you don't want to miss.

The eMetrics Summit is coming up in Washington DC on October 15. If you've never been, and you're in the area, I highly recommend the event...imagine 600 web analytics folks in one place! Great opportunity to network and learn. eMetrics is considered to be the premier web analytics conference, and has been building steam since it was founded in 2002. If you can't attend, there are other eMetrics events throughout the year in Stockholm, Dusseldorf, London, and San Francisco. The Stockholm show is October 29-30.

Speaking of great upcoming conferences, come to Aarhus, Denmark from November 6-8 to attend cmf2007, put together by CMS Watch enterprise portal analyst Janus Boye. I'll be giving an all-encompassing tutorial on web analytics, called How to Reap Rewards from Web Analytics, a half-day boot camp where you'll learn how to prepare for and maintain a web analytics initiative that provides decision support and return on investment insight to your web channel. I'll also be speaking on Web Analytics for Web 2.0. Look forward to seeing you there!

A bit farther out on the radar screen is X Change, hosted by Semphonic, the firm I recently joined. In our first event, we took a different approach, holding multiple facilitated discussion groups of no more than 12 people. You can read about it in Eric Peterson's post, and we're now planning to do this next year. Shoot me an email if you'd like to receive information about it: pkemelor@semphonic.com.
