Documentum buys Authentica

I've often thought that digital rights management (DRM) -- like many technologies -- had a greater future within the enterprise than out in the wild. However, DRM vendors have remained relatively small, and most discussion around the technology centers around protecting media company assets, even though there's a critical need to protect certain enterprise content. What's the point of locking down an intranet directory for senior executives when any one of them can print and forward "protected" PDFs willy-nilly? DRM isn't for everyone or everthing you publish, but it's more plausible in our always-connected age. EMC|Documentum evidently thinks so; today they bought 23-person DRM vendor Authentica.
