The XML & Component Content Management Report 2009 looks at... Integrated Authoring in Author-it

"Unlike most CCM systems, Author-it has a built-in authoring tool. The authoring tool and the CCM system are so tightly integrated that there is no distinction between the two; it is all essentially part of Author-it. This has advantages because you don't have to integrate a multitude of authoring tools, but can be problematic if you want to use existing or specific authoring tools - all users will be required to move to the Author-it authoring tool. "
